Welcome to the Warhammer Knockout Tournament for November...
GENERAL
The tournament will be held on Sunday November 16th, starting at 10am. It is a knockout-style series of games involving eight participants; so, to win the tournament you must win three rounds - first round, semifinal and final.
The tournament is open to all club members, although there will be a £4 entry free (this includes the usual admission fee for the day). The winning player will receive a £20 Games Workshop gift voucher.
IN-GAME RULES
- Armies are limited to 2500 points, and you will have a single army list throughout the tournament - it may not change between games
- Army lists will be 'closed' - i.e. not known to the other participants.
- As well as the main Warhammer rulebook and all current Army books, the rules presented in Warhammer: Nagash are in effect. So, for example, Undead Legions are a legal army.
- Each round consists of a single game, played according to a randomly selected scenario from the six "standard" missions in the Warhammer rulebook. (Battleline, Dawn Attack, Battle for the Pass, Blood and Glory, Meeting Engagement, Watchtower)
- Chaos Dwarfs are a legal army, as per the Tamurkhan: Throne of Chaos book from Forge World
- Terrain will be provided on all three tables, and players will take turns to place a single piece of terrain starting with the winner of a roll-off. Forests will be 'mysterious'
TO ENTER
To enter the tournament, simply pay the £4 entry fee ahead of time either to myself or to a presiding committee member. Remember there will be eight participants in all and it's first come first served, so I recommend signing up early.
ARMY LISTS
Since army lists are 'closed', you do not need to submit your army list ahead of time - simply bring it on the day. Your opponent is entitled to see it at the end of each game.
Note that although the lists will be closed, your opponent is entitled to ask during the game what 'mundane' equipment and upgrades a unit has been given. This includes such things as Marks of Chaos, Orc Big'uns, Gnoblar Trappers, and purchasable monster upgrades such as breath weapons. However, you do not need to reveal any magic items (including Dwarf runes), special 'powers' such as Vampiric Powers or Chaos Mutations, or 'hidden' units such as Assassins or Fanatics.
Please remember that your list needs to include the following:
- which model is the army General (and anything else your specific army book requires you to identify, such as the Tomb Kings Hierophant
- which Lore each Wizard is using (bear in mind that all Wizards may use the Lore of Undeath, so you will need to decide this even if your Wizard was previously able to use only one lore)
Wizards who are permitted to freely mix spells from multiple Lores, such as Grey Seers or Mortarchs, are an exception and do not need to specify their chosen Lore(s) in your army list.
ERRATA
- Chaos Dwarf Chalice of Blood and Darkness: The Chalice may not be used midway through a casting or dispelling attempt.
- Chaos Dwarf K'daai Destroyer, K'daai Fireborn, Great Taurus and Bale Taurus: Ignore what the Blazing Body rule says regarding rolling to wound these units.
- Epidemius: Epidemius' tally only works when he is physically present on the battlefield. If the Epidemius model is not on the battlefield for any reason, his tally stops, and friendly units do not benefit from its effects.
- Blood and Glory: Standards only count for 'fortitude' if they were selected as part of your army list. Standards that appear due to other means (such as the Lore of Undeath, or the Dreaded Thirteenth Spell) do not count for fortitude.
